Into Iraq with Lt. Kristin Graham
Kris's
Bronze
Star

Lt. Kristin (Freberg) Graham is an Army Engineer and participated in the 2003 liberation of Iraq.

We first heard from Kristin when we got a call , then a letter dated May 3rd ( received June 2nd ) with a few pictures scanned into it.  Her Uncle was over there as one of the many 'embeds' (reporters) ... but they never caught up... as Kris was obviously busy. it's a big army and it is a rather big place after all!

Here's Lt. Kristin on her way to Kuwait. She was on an American Airlines Jet . All the flight attendants were 'volunteers'!  They decorated the plane and wore "USA" sweatshirts. This was her first sight of Kuwait. Kristin is pointing out the humvee that brought her there.
Here is the 'chow line' at Camp Virginia. One of the truths of army life is that there is a line for everything! Kristin is seen in her 'Saudi-made' tent. She said that
she would have taken more showers if she knew her
next one wouldn't be for a month!  She never goes
anywhere without that gun.
Every vehicle gets a 'name' and this one is called 'the Scorpion King'! The lower arrow points out Kristin!
There is a saying in Iraq  that there are 12 million Iraqi's and there are 12 million pictures of Saddam Hussein! A couple of big monsters... a big dump truck and
the
'mother of all backhoes!'
Kristin said she felt that she was on 'Tattooine'   "NBC" stands for nuclear, biological, and chemical. It's been a long day... but a worthwhile one Kristin
tells us.

Kristin is our Hero.
